How can I record a sighting of a dolphin?

Make sure you're on the map view, then tap the location where you spotted the dolphin. A prompt will appear, asking for confirmation to record the sighting; select "yes." Subsequently, a new screen will open, offering options to detail your sighting:

  • Time seen: Specify the precise time of the sighting.

  • Species: Identify the type of dolphin observed.

  • Number seen: Indicate the quantity of dolphins spotted.

  • Hash Tags: Choose from a list of behaviors the dolphin might have exhibited, such as feeding or breaching.

  • Share with other users: Enable this feature to alert nearby users of the sighting. They can access details and any attached photos, while notes remain private. Toggle this off if you wish to keep the sighting exclusive before saving.

  • Notes: Add any pertinent information about the sighting.

  • Add Photos: Attach photos from your library to complement the sighting.

  • Save: Click this button once all details are filled out to store and disseminate the information.

How do I edit my existing sightings ?

You have two options for adding a dolphin sighting:

 

Tap on the dolphin icon on the map view, then select "edit" when the pop-up appears. Alternatively, tap the 'My sightings' option from the menu icon in the top left corner of the app.

Once you're in the edit screen, you can adjust the details of the sighting:

  • Time Seen: Modify the date and time you spotted the dolphin.

  • Species: Update the species of the dolphin.

  • Number seen: Adjust the count of dolphins you observed.

  • Hash Tags: Add or remove any tags associated with the sighting.

  • Edit existing photos: Tap to remove photos already added to the sighting.

  • Add more photos: Upload additional photos from your library.

When you're finished, click the 'My sightings' link in the top left to exit and save the changes.
